Food & Love

This blog is now titled Food & Love. Kind of like a pun.

2009 is off to a great start. I particularly enjoyed these recipes:

I cook in a modest urban kitchen. I buy my ingredients within walking distance of my home. With few exceptions, I fire these dishes with a maple cutting board, a 240mm gyotu, a saute pan, a stockpot, tongs, and a wooden spoon. That is it. I don't even have a garbage disposal. I write this because even with a small kitchen, no car, and no snazzy stand mixer, this stuff isn't hard (although lousy knives do ruin the show). Every time I set off my smoke alarm, I smile. It's supposed to be fun.

  1. Keep it up, Rob. What I love most is your ability to make a perfect dish whether it is rustic like carnitas or creative and fancy.

  2. You should have your own cooking show where you make funny jokes and constantly poke fun at Rachel Ray. Everything here is soo inspiring.

  3. L Michael & Anonymous -- thank you for the kind words.

Spring is here, or at least it is supposed to be, and the arrival of spring vegetables and warmer days have inspired some delicious, seasonal dishes. I will get them up over the coming weeks.

    Best, Robert

  4. Robert, the food on this blog could be found in Seattle's top restaurants. Your food would not be out of place at creative places like our Harvest Vine or Crush or Art of the Table.

And I love the new name Mr Love!!!

  5. Michelle, thank you for the very kind words. I'll keep posting if you keep reading.

I've never been to Seattle but I have heard there is a restaurant there named after the MFK Fisher book, How to Cook a Wolf. For the name alone--although I hear the tapas-like small plates are good--I'd love to dine there.

Support the quality, creative restaurants near you, whatever they are named. Cooks serving up local, seasonal ingredients in creative and unique platings deserve our business.
